About Pickens, SC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
The city of Pickens is located in Pickens County, and as of 2010, about 3,200 people lived here. Previously named Pickens Courthouse, the city was named for Andrew Pickens – an American revolutionary soldier and U.S. Congressman. Pickens is found in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and it was founded in 1868. Today, the city is a small business center of the southeast, and it is conveniently located 20 miles from Greenville and 70 miles from Asheville.
Life in Pickens includes many interesting places to visit. The Town Creek Bike Park and Doodle Trail are relatively new attractions – opening in November 2014 and May 2015, respectively – and the Pickens Amphitheater hosts many events throughout the summer. The Hagood-Mauldin House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Pickens County Museum of Arts and History can be found housed in a jail from 1903. Local restaurants in Pickens include Tony’s Restaurant and The Gatehouse Restaurant.
Outdoor recreation is possible in Pickens during the winter months, as temperatures are cool and the season is relatively short. Still, while average daytime highs reach the low-50s, overnight lows can fall to the freezing point or even lower. When this cooler weather moves into the area, the priority for home and business owners becomes keeping indoor conditions comfortable. When it comes to HVAC systems, this includes regular air filter replacement, vent inspections, and periodic checkups with an experience technician.
Summer weather in Pickens is quite different from wintertime conditions. Throughout the spring, temperatures rise steadily, and by the peak of the summer, temperatures and humidity levels are high. High temperatures often reach the 90s, and the season receives rain and summer storms, which makes the air muggy. The right home cooling system, A/C, or heat pump will cool indoor temperatures while removing this humidity before air circulates.
