Anderson, South Carolina is a growing city found in Anderson County. As of the 2010 census, about 26,700 people lived in the city, and it serves as the county seat. Located just of Intestate 85, Anderson is 140 miles from Charlotte and 120 miles from Atlanta. Anderson is home to Anderson University, a private institution with about 3,400 students annually, and it is also referred to as “The Electric City.”
There are many wonderful things to do in Anderson. Outdoor recreation is abundant at Lake Hartwell and Sadlers Creek State Park, and Denver Downs Farm and Split Creek Farm are great destinations for families to visit with some cute animals. The Palmetto Distillery is located in downtown Anderson and provides history of the distillery as well as a tasting. After spending some time at the distillery or nearby Carolina Bauernhaus Ales, visitors may wish to fill up with a good meal at Red Tomato and Wine Restaurant, Eggs Up Grill, or one of the many other delicious dining establishments in the city.
